NOTE: This will only work on maps with a close spawn!!!

If a Terran rushes gas/ebay they can lift and land their CC right beside the enemy nexus and build a PF before the protoss can get anything out to counter it.

Fortress gets done about same time as 1st zealot, and theres no way probes can kill it in time, especially if 5 SCVs are loaded in beforehand.

Anyone else seen this strat?

I've done it a few times now with perfect execution. Enemy QQ's all the time as I would with this incredibly broken build.

Counters to planetary fortress lol rush:

A) block the cc from landing
B) block your ramp so scvs can't come in to repair it,a ttack it with all your probes, it will die before it converts.
C) Upon seeing the command center, immediately build an expansion and make that your new main. Planetary fortress cannot lift off.

With these 3 options available to you, why would you lose to planetary fortress rush?

someone did this to me and I grabbed all my scvs and put them underneath the building and followed him around while my marines shot it down. GG

Someone tried this against me and managed to land it... out of range of my buildings. Then he said "crap you can't liftoff after you land" LOL

Haha, I had someone try to do the Planetary Fortress thing against me, and they forgot to build an Engineering Bay. When they realized this they immediately left the game.

I had someone do this to me. managed to land, but i had three barracks up. I was able to kill it without losing anything but a bunch of marines and a few marauders.

He Gg'd and left.

I really don't get how people can lose from this. By the time the proper structures are built + you get the 150 gas, I'd have a number of marines and several marauders before the command center even got to my base.

I tried it once, and it worked. Its funny as hell if you can successfully do it or a teammate gets nailed by it, but like others have said just move a collector around until it gives up or dead.

thats not true at all, you can get it down before a barracks is done. You don't need to build a supply depot which goes to the engineering bay and you just collect enough and lift off. Most 4-man maps your right beside a enemy. Regardless its a huge risk which really isn't worth it unless you want a kick out of it.

Getting 150 gas is still gonna be a *##**, and I think you do need to have a barracks for an engineering bay.

Nope. Engineering bay is 125M I'm fairly certain.

Yeah but planetary fortress is 150m/150g if I remember correctly.

150 gas is ez to get, one scv at the start can do it by the time you lift :P

For everyone just saying its possible to kill you can repair with the 5 loaded SCVs.

You CAN NOT have 3 rax + rines + maras up by the time it happens, not to mention as I said earlier this is a TvP strat not a TvT as T can simply lift and move bases.

As I said if timed right the PF will finish building the same time the zealot come out. Sure you can block with a worker, but if he does manage to land its GG. This strat needs fixed.

Also ebay is 125 minerals, and you don't need a rax to build it.

Edit: I havn't seen it done yet, but I'm pretty sure a cannon can not kill a CC faster than a PF can get done building. Not to mention you have 5 SCVs to repair via load.

forgot to bring the 150 minerals i needed to make my cc a PF....

The way they'll fix it is by making any units underneath Terran buildings get insta-killed when it lands.

I'll post one when I get done being enthralled by FF13. I finally got out of the tutorial phase of the game 22 hours in and I'm loving it. Can't step away till I've beat it!

I'm totally serious. The lead designer for SC2 has gone on record to say that the Terrans are doing the worst overall (based on "internal data"). I wish they'd share their data because I am losing confidence in this game.

That's what I was thinking.

Honestly, this has to be a joke. As stated multiple times, 1 worker can constantly prevent this thing from landing. A choke will prevent any attempt at repairs, and it only takes a few units to bring this thing down without repairs assuming it does land.

Additionally, strats like this simply show how important scouting is. No Barracks? Eng bay going up? Gas up? Time to get that gateway done regardless of planned build order. Perhaps a forge / cannon. Just get something. If you counter that PF rush, it's an auto win for you. If you failed to counter it...well, you probably deserved to loose anyways.

I once planetary fortress rushed a toss. Well... I built a second cc near him, then floated that in with a barracks and some scvs. I was quite thankful that he decided to put a tonne of resources into cannoning off his expansion.

It's a strat that can only work if it flusters your opponent, but I can't imagine many seeing it coming.
