I was just wondering what kind of features you guys think would make a premium account worth paying for?
Ideas I've had so far are.
Battle.net 1.0 emulator (allows you to use the old battle.net instead of 2.0.)
Premium maps made by map creators are free.
Access to maybe live support specialists similar to wow.
Improved hacking detection.
Extra slots for games.
Just a few ideas I had. Does anyone else have any ideas for what premium accounts could use?

I like how you made this topic as if this is a feature of the game being implemented. Frankly I wouldn't pay a dime for "extras".

Personally, not a big fan of having to pay anything for multiplayer features aside from premium maps and maybe portraits.
That being said, I think this belongs in the Suggestions forum.

I hope this is a troll topic, because having to pay for better maphack protection and game slots is absolutely ridiculous.
would be kind of funny to pay a premium to use bnet 1.0 xD

i'd like to think blizzard hasn't been swallowed and **#@d into submission by activision quite yet.
and yeah, paying for 'better' hacking protection would be !#!@ing stupid. just zero tolerance for hacking in my opinion.

I figured I'd post it on general just to have some discussion over it. Then if enough people start giving ideas maybe then post it in the suggestion forum. I'm not assuming there will be a premium account feature on battle.net, I am simply asking if they did what kind of options would make it worth the cost?
Also I see what your saying about the maphack protection.. That should be a given for all users. However the additional game slots would put more stress on the servers. So it would cost money.

Those are terrible features. What do you mean extra slots for games? I think Blizzard would try to stop hackers no matter what, Blizzard is known for excellent phone support, I don't think they would ruin that, the free premium maps is a good idea, but I don't know how exactly the map maker would end up getting reimbursed then. I think (could be wrong) that all old games will still use the battlenet 1.0 interface. I have confidence that Blizzard is going to add chat channels to battlenet 2, what else would you want?

I think Blizzard prints money for Activision, and I personally think if it wasn't for Blizz, Activision would have gone under with the trash they are bringing these days. And I am pretty sure it is a 50-50 merger, I would have to re-read it.
Well except for the masses that think MW2 is good game.

Like instead of only being allowed 8 players they gave premium accounts the ability to have an extra 4 players in a game. This could also be included in the map editor to allow premium users to have more computers in their maps with out limiting the number of real players.

Maybe I should have said that in a different way, Because your sacarsm implies, that I didn't take into account the millions of dollars they made selling MW2, I happen to think it is a bad game, and after two weeks I no longer saw anyone playing it or could get anyone to play MW2 anymore. (I know i need to get more friends) but the game was boring, glitchy and not as well done as MW IMO. Apparently the money activison made says different, although it does not even compare to the money that Blizzard pulls in monthly with WoW.

True they don't pull in as much as wow does, but they do have more products that are still selling well on the market.. Blizzard at the moment only has WoW.
Didn't Activision just fire two of their studio heads on CoD? That doesn't speak so well to them.

LoL I played WoW for like a year until I realized Blizzard was doing *#%@ all with the 150 million a month they were getting from players.
Ashrons call was at least nice enough to give u a content update every month when they dingged ur credit card. all Bliz did was put out expansion packs that you had to pay for haha suckers =)

Everytime someone says MW2 I instantly think of MechWarrior 2... it took me about 3 minutes to finally realize wtf people were talking about in here.
As far as the premium accounts... premium accounts? Really?! Blizzard has always given Battle.net for free, that's what allowed it to jump in popularity so much originally.
It should be free, always free, and come with great support for their great games. It's been that way since the days of Diablo, StarCraft, and WarCraft II: Battle.net Edition.

Not everyone is a poverty-stricken skinflint, and I wouldn't mind paying extra for:
Name Changes Ladder Statistics Reset Unlimited Storage of all my Replays and Custom Maps (because Battle.net should come with free storage for SOME Replays and Maps) A 4th Race.

I pay for my WoW subscription. That's all Kotick is going to get out of me, unless he sends a squad to my house to finish me off and loot my corpse.

Un-necessary.
Either you're an idiot who would pay 15 dollars for 4 maps (If that thing sells well, my faith in humanity is going to fall so fast it'll breach the core of the planet), or you're a troll.
"Improved hacking detection".
"Fourth race."
This is the sort of thing you pay $50 for the actual game for. Not a monthly charge so you can pad a particularly evil CEO's pockets. What next? Paying for patches?

It's people with no fiscal sense whatsoever, like those who are anxious to pay even more money to Blizzard, that make it so everyone has to pay the fee, in the end. They legitimize the concept and embolden the company to continue to do more and more of it. You ruin it for everyone else. Get some monetary sense, please.

some people might want to keep the functionality that the old b.net offered. For instance custom game names, old clan channel set up, old chat style, and things like that.
The same reason people pay extra for the windows 7 that has the XP emulator.
I don't mind "premium" ideas so long as they are actually "premium" in the sense that they offer something new that required significant develop time/cost. It can't be a feature we've had for years and blizzard decides they want to capitalize on or even a feature that is merely innovative to the new product.
Unlimited map storage and changing my name does not qualify for the above.

but would extra slots and an emulator justify such costs? Maybe they even provide pre-made sc1 style matches using the sc1 units with sc2 graphics. I'm not saying there will or will not be premium. I'm just asking what kind features you guys would expect out of such a thing.

Unlimited map storage is a restriction of your hard drive.
While we're at it, I'm sure we can get Blizzard to download us some more RAM.

I may be wrong, but i don't think Kotick gets a dime outta you except maybe from the head company
