Which maps do you love and, if any, hate, so far?
List 3 each.
+ Scrap Station - probably the only asymmetrical map in the pool so far ★
+ Desert Oasis
+ Twilight Fortress
- none really, they're all good, so far.
Blizz should do a survey for this, along with a little box for comments.

I dislike metalopolis and kulas ravine in 1v1. They're so big, takes forever to get across the map.

I cant remember the name, but the 2v2 turtle map where you and your ally share the same base sucks.

BAD MAP.
I couldn't agree more.

best 3 imo:
-Twilight fortress. (lets face it if you and an ally were in a war with someone else you wouldn't want your bases split apart so that the other team can just gain up on one person >.>)
-Scrap Station
-Steppes of War
worst 3 imo:
-Lost Temple
-Metalopolis
-Desert Oasis
not sure why but i just loathe lost temple and metalopolis. Desert Oasis is more on my bleh meter.

- distance of natural
- mineral line is attackable from bottom level with vision
- travel time between the two bases

- distance of naturalNot every map has to be BGH.- mineral line is attackable from bottom level with visionScouting helps, especially if you keep the Xel'naga towers manned.- travel time between the two basesNot every map has to be Blood Bath.
Try Desert Oasis Novice. ★
+ Kulas Ravine. I like having two naturals, one with the rocks. In 1v1 though it can be kind of a big map.
+ Lost Temple 1v1. It's a classic, and the changes Blizzard made are good ones.
+ Scrap Station. Much more interesting than most other maps, although it's not really asymmetrical, its just symmetry on a different axis :-P.
- Twilight Fortress. I hate this map. Because it's so large and both players are back to back, it virtually nullifies rushing and mineral harassment, meaning every game turns into a tech-fest of who can have the most air. While this is fun to do sometimes, I don't like knowing that's where the game is going at my load screen.
- Lost Temple 2v2. As much as I like it for 1v1, I hate it in 2v2. Way too small for a map with ramps. If Blizzard wants to go for a rush map, make it a rush map, but as it stands I just feel crowded when I play it in 2's.
-Desert Oasis. I don't really like this one either...it just feels awkward and clunky to me, and whenever I send my scouting worker at the beginning of a game, I'm always surprised at the route he takes...but that's more a preference thing. The distance to naturals is annoying, but I think the openness of the minerals is a cool feature.

Did you really just compare the other maps to BGH? You realize they're designed after the pro maps that are used in SC1? Xel'Naga towers and having your mineral line attacked from ground has no relevance. If I know they're attacking me (which I do, due to zerglings at each tower), I'll block the choke and then it's a simple observer/scan at my mineral line for a few dead drones. The travel time would be fine if it wasn't so drop favored. I've resorted to defending until nydus for this map.
I do just fine in platinum to not require the novice map.

I like all the maps.....except for Desert Oasis. That map is just annoying to play on.

When beta first opened, I had so much fun with reapers on Desert Oasis. Pretty much a must on that map.

I hate desert oasis. Its a pain to expand and defend it turn one of those bases into a natural. I used to lose but Ive change strats. Every time this map pops I throw up 2 spine crawlers like 8 lings and defend until i get a spire up for a muta rush kinda. Its been effective if the enemy attacks me at all Ill win I think. Ive been hit when using it but never by a fully developed force im hoping Im so fast that Only small rushes or raiding groups can try for it.
Wont work against terran though I believe maybe the muta rush to harassment then expand.
Either way screw ground and keep some overlords in the center dont get dropped. I still hate this map.

?! This map is one of my favorite. Love playing with a Terran buddy on this one.

I really, really dislike desert oasis.
If you dislike Desert Oasis, you need to expand your understanding of the game, and realize that the things that are problems for you on the map are also problems for your opponents. These things create variety and interest in game play.
For this reason, Desert Oasis is one of my favorite maps.

Favorite: Blistering Sands - I like this map a lot, mostly because of its simplicity. You can focus on playing a good, clean game without having to worry about many map-related factors.
Least favorite: Desert Oasis - Aside from reapers being especially annoying on this map, I just don't like the layout much at all. I'm also not a huge fan of island expansions. Fortunately, I thumbs-downed this map after my second game on it, and have never had to play it since. :)

While this is fun to do sometimes, I don't like knowing that's where the game is going at my load screen. Our Platinum 2v2 team actually often finishes this with rushes. We've hardly ever had to go airborne on this map.

+1 again for so much truth.
All the QQ in here about Desert Oasis sounds like this map is probably doing the job it was made to do: separating the adaptable wheat from the inflexible chaff.
I actually have to say there's no one map I really dislike.
But my favorite map (I dont recall the name of it) is the one with the foreground that bleeds
"BLIZZARD <3s BLADERUNNER"
Anyone know what I'm talking about? That map is like a bucket of awesomeness throwing up into another bucket of awesomeness.

So people who disagree with you about a map are closed-minded about the game? lol...
I win just fine on Desert Oasis, I was just noting the fact that it feels clunky and awkward to me. I also realize that these same things may or may not occur to my opponent. That doesn't mean it's a good map.
Map preferences are just that...preferences. If people don't like Desert Oasis, they are more than welcome to thumb it down. While that doesn't seem to make much of a difference right now, come release you'll be able to play on it with other people who like the map.

Anyone know what I'm talking about?Metalopolis? The one that defies physics by somehow allowing hundred-ton Command Centers and other structures stomp with impunity on the rooftops of skyscra-pers that have veins of Minerals spouting from them and vents that spew Vespene?
yeah that one is pretty awesome and innovative <3 (not being sarcastic, I love that tileset)
^
Aww I hope you don't mean that sarcastically. I really like it. Look at the side of the buildings.. then go watch Bladerunner.
Sci-fi-gasm in the making, no problem.
In 1v1 I love all the 2 player maps... I hate when it defaults over to a 4 player map for 2 player.. It's always too big..
I can see the value in it for long games and I probably am just no good at properly expanding, but it feels like it tends to make games draw out and makes it really hard to move units across a huge empty map..

I don't know I kind of feel like the 4 player map setting is kind of the staple for 1v1 online, not too obvious not too boring to scout out.

I really hate that tileset. I know I'm playing a game, but it makes no sense to have mineral clusters coming out of the roofs of buildings and vespene gas pipelines being routed through buildings as well. I like some degree of realism in my games.

I don't know if you knew this, but the lore behind that building is that there was a Biodome on top of it that was shattered by Bud and Doyle, and it is your job to go up there and eradicate them from further defiling it over a government contract. When you get up there you find that someone else has been hired for the contract as well.. and the fighting begins. That is when the load screens finishes.

Personally, I play 1v1 exclusively as Zerg...
Favorite 3 are Steppes of War, Kulas Ravine, & Desert Oasis... All are maps that bring about less than traditional strategies and you see a lot less Rush! on them. More thoughtful maps. ( People who rush on Steppes are asking to be owned )
Least favorite are Scrap Station and Metalopolis... Both are just boring. Far to easy to turtle down. They lack action and imaginative thinking.
Lost Temple & Blistering Sands aren't bad. They're not great either...

That's true.. I think we both just defined our play style.
