Give everyone and their bothers a beta key :)
Anyone checked lately? Keys that were selling yesterday for like $300 are now lucky to get $20.
Makes me happy that people who actually want to be in the beta are finally able to get their chance.
The more people that are testing the more bugs will be found, the better balance will be, and the better match making will be.
So I'm happy with lots more people coming in.
And I never had any problem with people selling their keys either, it results in people who REALLY want to play getting to and the keys are the persons to do whatever they want to with. If they want to sell them and someone else wants to buy them, so be it.

Bidby, has it ever occured to you, to ya know...not be a jerk? Please understand that being in earlier waves of beta does not make you better then them, it just means you got luckier. I bet you were among the same wave of people who when you first joined were a bit surprised when your overlords didn't detect.
No need to be rude about it to the new wave of invites.

Nope. My problem is that people generally assume that situation is an unwarranted nerf. If they spent 5 seconds looking at the tech tree they'd realise its simply an intended change.
People are just too quick to cry fowl of a nerf. There's going to be a billion more nerf proxy pylon/roach/immortal/whatever the heck has already been discussed to death posts, and the REAL discussions about REAL balance issues are going to get lost in the ensuing chaos.

So, let them take those 5 seconds, realize that it's an intended and rightly balanced change, and go on with your day. They'll turn into decent posters afterwards. Besides, multiple threads tend to get deleted fairly quickly on Blizzard boards anyway. No one's forcing you to click them ;)

Make them fight to the death!

One of my 2 friends I played SC with already has the beta, so giving it to the other was a no brainer!
This is true, when i first came here I was laughing at how my mass roaches could kill everyone in 2s. Now they get easily countered.

how to kill SC2 beta scalping on ebay: report the listings. selling beta software (keys included) isn't allowed on ebay and they will remove any listings that get reported.

This is just lame, let people do whatever the heck they want to with their keys, it doesn't even affect you at all.

It's a matter of principals guy.
These keys are not meant for people to make money off of. They are gifts from Blizzard to their fans. The type of people who have a desire to actually profit from them are scum. They are taking advantage of the situation in order to bring themselves profit. I find it no better than someone who creates fake websites for donations to Haitian victims. Or people who pretend they are psychic to make money off grieving families after a tragedy.
You think that's too extreme? Too bad. It's the same mentality. It's taking advantage of grief, or hype, surrounding an issue, and turning it to their own advantage. It's the definition of selfishness, and that polar opposite of altruism. If more people in the world were altruistic, this world would be a far, far better place. But people only care about themselves, and don't care who they have to step on to get ahead.
that's pitiful.

People are given beta keys to test the product. Not to make a profit.

Welcome to Economics 101. Why do you think Coke makes a can for 20 cents and sells it to you for a dollar.
More importantly what if they don't have any friends who wish to play, what's wrong with giving it to someone who really wants it ? Unless it actually violates the TOS of the beta.
Furthermore, it disgusts me that you would relate this to Haiti Scammers. In that case, the seller is LYING to the consumer to make a profit, this is ILLEGAL. When a seller informs the customer of what an item is, and the customer then chooses to purchase said item (and indeed receives exactly what he was expecting to purchase), this is commonly referred to as doing "business." They are not similar at all, as at no point did the seller misrepresent the product to the consumer, and again I don't know if this violates the TOS, but if it doesn't its the same as selling anything else.
In addition how is it selfish? If I say "Hey Joe, I have product X that I know you really enjoyed, and it would be fair that if I gave this to you, that you in some way compensate me since we aren't friends etc" Not only does Joe get want he wants (and will likely thank you for it) but you also get something you want. Selfish is if I took his money and then didn't give away my key, or if I had no one to give my key to so instead choose to give it to no one.
For the record I gave my key to roommate, simply because I value playing with him more than I could have sold it for.
People are given beta keys to test the product. Not to make a profit.
Wrong, they are given the beta key to do whatever they want to with it. it's THEIR property at that point. When your work gives you a paycheck you can use the money for whatever you want, not just the things they allow you to buy.
If they want to use it themselves, or not use it at all, or give it to a friend, or sell it to a stranger, or print it out eat it and poop it, etc.
Once it's theirs it's theirs and they can do whatever they want to with it, it doesn't affect you at all, stop getting up in other people's business.

Wrong. A paycheck is earned, a beta key is not. If you opted in to the Beta, Blizzard has given you a key because you want to test their game. If you got a friend-invite, it's because Blizzard wants you to invite a friend so that they can test the game, and more specifically, the social features.
Your beta key still belongs to Blizzard whether you like it or not, and you didn't do anything to earn it. Someone who profits off of something they get for free is the definition of a scammer or just a plain old douchebag.
If you truly don't have any friends (lol) that want the key, give it to someone at TL or something. Blizzard has said repeatedly they will not tolerate selling keys.

Wrong. It's only a scam if the consumer is unaware of the nature by which said "free item" was obtained. Again if a consumer chooses to purchase something, and both parties are aware of the exchange, and get what was agreed upon, no scam took place. It also isn't technically "free" while I agree I did not pay explicitly, only individuals in the beta already got the friend invite, and so right there it has value as the supply is lower than the demand. Economics 101.
The most I would say is that when you get a gift such as a friend invite, and choose to profit as opposed to use the gift, it may be ungrateful, but nothing more. If get a bad sweater for my birthday and exchange it for store credit, I'm not a "scammer."

Good point, but it doesn't change the fact that you're simply not allowed to sell them.
eBay and Beta Testing 101.

I didn't disagree with you? I was mostly disagreeing with relating this to Haiti Scammers, as I feel that is simply wrong, and those individuals should be shot lol.
I even said that I didn't check the TOS, and if it IS against the TOS, then of course it's bad as you are explicitly breaking your terms of service. Aside from that I don't see a problem.
FYI the keys are all being removed by Ebay.
I'm not going to scan the TOS looking for it, but I do know they mentioned explicitly in the friend invite email that you were not to sell or trade the key.
I DO know that it is against eBay's TOS to sell any beta keys however.

If his listing got removed due to Blizzard and not eBay, don't be surprised if his key gets banned. If so, he will have spent $60 for jack.
