I just installed the newest nvidia drivers released today and caused my starcraft 2 screen to flicker on fullscreen. I run a 250 gts SLI with an icore7. I have reverted back to the previous drivers and everything else works fine.

Just a precaution from my experience.

agreeed, these drivers are no good. Crashed SC2 and screwed up my Media Player Classic.

Man, what is with nVidia drivers, lately? I dropped ATI because of this crap...

Same.. I used to use the poor driver support of ATI as a defense for nVidia (the lesser of 2 evils, imo), but more and more I find this to be untrue..

I miss 3dfx...

Make a thread in the tech forum so they at least know about it.

ATI and NVidia suck. Intel graphics 4 life!

But for real, as others said, post it into the technical support forum with all the info they need. It could be a bug with the NVidia drivers, it could be a bug with the game. You can't really blame either until there are more details. Sure the driver install caused SC2 to act weird, but it could mean that SC2 was doing something "weird" that Nvidia patched.

And here I was hoping the next batch of Nvidia drivers would stop the random freezing of my computer when starting games or videos. Looks like I get to wait for the next round.

I'm running the latest NVIDIA drivers (196.21) on Windows 7 x64, GeForce 8800GT, no issues. Have not had a single SC2 crash.

The latest drivers are 196.75. Yours haven't been the latest since January 27, they're 2 releases behind.

I'd take NVIDIA over ATI any day.

I'd take NVIDIA over ATI any day.

Same.. At least they still have some of the 3dfx community in their team (they were kind enough to employ them after the hostile takeover... sigh...)

I braved the newest drivers last night and am not seeing problems on my gtx260 or my gx210. (Both windows 7).

Pfff i'd take new ATIs over Nvidia anyday.

It was true in the past that Nvidia was wayyyyyy superior to ATI but it isn't true anymore.

I rock an 5850 and I'm proud of it... btw did you know that you can install PhysX on an ATI and it will work perfectly ? eh! Stop being fanboi and looking and brand name rather look at what you'll get for your money! :P

Haha, says the person who's "rocking a 5850 and proud of it".. Stop being a fanboy.. :p

I buy whatever costs less versus memory and clock speed and broad benchmarking.

Nvidia fanbois have no humility, even in the face of failure.

It's.. a graphical driver issue for a beta.

You really think it's Nvidia's fault?

In other news, drivers work fine for me for Win7 64, on SC2 and WoW, just fine.

*shrug*

offtopic:

for the money, nvidia still wins right now, even with the 5000 series out.

a 5870 costs what, ~$400 USD

SLI 260gtx costs what, ~$400 USD

^^ This.

I've owned both types of cards, the laptop im on right now has ati mobile, my desktop is running 8800 gts.

Want to know who's better? Whoever was behind the curve of the last market generation and is playing catchup, same price range at lowest point, good components.

But doesn't wow generally support Nvidia over ATI? Or was that EQ2?

Regardless, it's all good hardware, one graphical driver having issues for SOME people on a beta is pretty moot guys, let's all hug it out and kill each other on some island maps, where I will Lift-Off my base, and go afk to do homework.

I kid, always.

Love,

Joey :)

I have lots of games that feature the Nvidia "the way it's meant to be played" logo movie at startup. I don't think I've ever seen a single game mention ATI.

Well shoot.

I just built my new computer last night and was playing SC2 this morning. I have never installed Windows 7 before so it dawned on me I might not have the latest drivers.

Went this morning to check for the newest ones and saw there was a really recent driver update. I downloaded it and yeah, am having the same issues as everyone else. Cant even start the game (crashes at loading screen with flickering) and I cant roll back the driver because its a fresh install.

Anyone know where I can get the last driver?

this is how you get to beta and archived as in older drivers from the nvidia website

i installed the update i had no problem. imo if it just crashes sc2 install it check it out if it does write over the new driver with the older one.

I have an older G80 chip and running windows 7 x64

imo those who are saying they are having problems why don't you list system specs so atleast someone can report the common problem to nvidia instead of yall just complaining about it.

Just relating personal experience, I installed the newest nvidia drivers this morning off their website and had no problems whatsoever. Running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, a GeForce 9800 GX2, Athlon 64 X2.

Has there been a StarCraft 2 (http://starcraft-2-strategy.net) patch yet for this issue?
