Have you ever found yourself countering a roach rush with muradors, just to be screwed when the mass hydralisks come your way?
Look no further I found a very powerful counter against mass hydralisks. Unpacked siege tanks is the answer, they are underestimated, but they really do just mow down hydras. My last game i had a zerg go straight from roaches to hydras, i saw it and just made 5 sige tanks with marines +1 to guns. They just mowed down all the hydras that stood in the way.

Hydras can't handle teched Marines. So do Marine and Marauder evenly and you are fine.

I agree, I won a game thanks to those siege tanks.
Here's another strategy: bunker up and supply depot between choke point and siege tank on flat terrain.
The enemy will fall back or somesuch, so two options:
Medevac some of the siege tanks from the rear, then drop them behind enemy line to deal damage and recall troops to defend, then have the siege tanks back at the former base to undeploy and roll over to where you estimate the enemy is going to position to fight off your sneaky siege tanks. They get sandwhiched.
Or leapfrog with the siegetanks.
But you knew that.

One time I totally dominated a zerg player by dropping some siege tanks on their cliff next to their natural expo on lost temple with some marines, hit him from the front with marines as well. he cried. Poor hydras had trouble getting to mah siege tank. =p
sc1 strats ftw

Im just surprised that the unpacked seige tank , shoots so fast. I always disregarded them in their mobile form. But they are awesome mobile. I noticed if people play them wrong and unpack late or something else with the unpacking, the seige will die. I really like just having them mobile, they pack a punch and shoot really fast :D
muradors
Nice idea there. Bad spelling, though.

Teched tanks are good too.
There is no problem that 3 barracks pumping out double teched marines cant fix =P

Here's another strategy.
Just MMM every single game and you'll get platinum.

Unless against toss. Then go banshees. Lots and lots of banshees. Maybe some vikings if they get funny.

90% of the time ill have much more minerals then gas when i mass hydra (90% of the games) and i have now learned to fill in the blank spots with zerglings. Not only are they effective, they are adorable too!
siege tanks massed are answers for anything on the ground except immortals. There's not a ground unit in the game a large group of siege tanks won't obliterate except immortals.
People vastly underestimate how strong siege tanks are, because the marauder is such a powerful anti-armor unit for such a low cost, but the siege tank is just anti ground in general, with massive range, splash, and huge damage. It's quickly becoming my go-to unit on the ground in 1v1.

Why would someone use mass hydra? This isn't SC1. You didn't have any air, so roaches would have worked better. Burrowing roaches that pop up in melee range of deployed siege tanks would be best. The only time I use Hydras is when I'm making lots of Mutalisks as my main force but have an unbalance of minerals > gas.

i haven't really tried undeployed tanks against hydras, though i have against roaches. i would think they're much more effective deployed. i've made the mistake plenty of times of trying to deploy them while the hydralisks are mowing everything down though.

upgrade infantry? or build tanks? ... hmmmm
I have a huge issue deciding to upgrade, or mass units. An upgraded Infantry still doesn't do too well vs a mass of units.

Sieged Tanks melt hydras. And as others have mentioned, fully upgraded marines do very well too, although they don't hard counter hydras as well as tanks do IMO (plus mass marines are vulnerable to things like banelings/fungal spore).

The thing is, when I mass hydras I usually win ZvT before they have siege tanks. If I don't, then I'm already an expansion ahead and teching to mutas.
The times that Terran beats me when I'm going for mass hydras is . . . before I have hydras. Basically scout your Zerg opponent well during the early-mid game, and try to drop m&m&ms on their main base when all they have is a few lings and roaches to defend with because they fast expanded to try mass hydras. Of course this means you have to be very vigilant as to what kind of army size the Zerg player has, but I feel I'm most vulnerable *before* I have 30 hydralisks with range and 1+1 upgrades.

I never play zerg, just never, yesterday I played 3 in a row and lost them all to mass hydras
The first game I thought I had with MMM, killed his base d plus some roaches and lings, then 30 hydras come and wtf pwn me to oblivion. Then I went my typical rush banshee thing, again I lost because I didnt contest him early to counter his hydra production. The last game I said screw it, so I reactor rushed with some marines but I didnt really know what to do so I got dominated by zerglings, then later hydras.
I just think that from now on my only option is to consistantly make marines and marauders and try to harass expos, then tech to tanks or air depending on what hes mutating (as in air if I see hes going mutas).
Ive yet to beat zerg so any tips would be great

Well, the "Help" tab in-game does say that Tanks murder hydras, and that hydras are only good vs light air.

Add a ghost in it... it fixes the immortal problem.

because siege tanks do bonus dmg vrs armored units, ding ding Roaches. hydras have more range and can focus fire better. Hydras can burrow too.

Actually Marauders are a pretty even match to Hydralisks, if you have the same numbers the Marauders will usually win if you have Stim.
Marines will do more damage to Hydras but die quicker. Combat Shields + Medivacs will help your infantry take out Roaches and Hydras, as long as you're keeping up on the macro side.

Ravens will absolutely DESTROY mass Hydralisks in StarCraft 2 (http://starcraft-2-strategy.net). Mass amounts of Marines and Medivacs work well too (especially with StimPacks and Combat Shields!!!).
