I'm gonna laugh when a Tourny with a 10,000$ reward is called off half way through because the internet crashes or Blizz starts maint.

Oh wait, the"Pros" will get LAN because F**k people with friends.

lan is an uneeded device in this day and age for majority of population. Might as well bring back serial connections

Amiriyt?

Some people actually want to physically hang out when they hang out.

Go to create game and invite your friends and don't open it to the public. You're connected to Battle.net, but that's how you're going to have to do LAN. It isn't very often when you will find yourself in a place with absolutely no internet access when you're with a few friends who want to have an LAN party.

Just so you know I added at least 100,000 of those signatures with a Greasemonkey script.

no you are not right.

you can go to a house iwth your comptuer or laptop if you want to and still play together like it was lan.

And for the lan party arguemnt, if the net isnt good enough, then you can live without having your 0-12 lan parties during the whole year.

Pretty obvious neither of you boys travel. Some of us do and you'd be surprised how hard it is to find a decent internet connection in a lot of places.

But sht, why should I be able to play whenever I want to?

My sibling is a music nerd and big seeder on waffles.fm, a private music torrent site that requires a .5 upload ratio. My friends and I like to have 2-3 day lan extravaganzas, so when new vinyl albums come out and he rips and uploads them, he can't be bothered to turn off utorrent for us or else it cuts his contribution off from thousands of people.

This is an example of why I, in my current situation need lan. We have enough connectivity to get on Bnet, but not to actually play the game. I'm sure people will say "then just tell him not to upload" but if your going to do that, why not go the extra mile and say "then just don't buy sc2."

If you think it's really worth not buying SC2 for that reason, by all means, don't buy SC2.

Not gonna happen because Blizzard allows onsite servers for sponsored tournaments. Just look at how WoW Arena tournaments are done. Those players are not playing on normal realms.

That's not what I meant. I meant spare me the useless "suck it up" comments.

Yeah, pretty much. I'm sure many people have better reasons than me, but thought I'd throw in my 2 cents.

Perhaps you should see the alternatives to it then.

Clearly you can still have an LAN party using Battle.net. It's quite unlikely you won't have internet in this day and age. If you don't, perhaps SC2 isn't the best investment.

As for your apparent situation, that really isn't Blizzard's fault. I'm sure if you're unable to host an LAN party at your home due to bandwidth usage, then you're probably unable to play a lot of other internet games.

You can always go to someone else's home too. Or if you're so desperate, go to a public internet area and hang out there.

Have him turn his stuff off for a few hours so you can play. This is a situation that is entirely avoidable and is all on you and your brother.

Im 99% sure Blizzard ignores all petitions, especially online ones because they dont want a thread full of "/sign".

Also because

Just so you know I added at least 100,000 of those signatures with a Greasemonkey script.

They seem dead set on not allowing lan.

If you are going to have a lan party, and your brother takes all the bandwidth, wouldn't it be better to go play at your friends house instead? And don't give me any BS about your friends not actually having internet...

By the way. that is a horrible excuse, and so is every single reason to have lan.

I'm well aware its a horrible reason, but I'm one of thousands, many of which have great reasons.

I see plenty of people trying to defend blizzards position by arguing that it won't matter because you will have internet access almost anywhere you go. What I would like to see is someone give a good reason why Blizzard should NOT include a true LAN implementation that doesn't require internet access.

Here's one for Blizz to ponder over:

Myself and 20 of my buddies have LAN parties once per month. We rent out a Church hall for the day and play everything from COD to SC1 over LAN. We have a gas with pizza and beer. Explain to me how I approach the reverend and demand internet access for us to use so we can "LAN" SC2?

Not everyone lives in the USA where every Mac D's or Starbucks (which is convenientely located every 2 meters) has Wifi free of charge.

It won't be long until someone figures out how to write a LAN "hack". Heck I've even seen offline beta clients already.

Do the right thing Blizz...don't leave it to hackers to add this feature. Add it yourselves

I can't believe that Blizzard disabled LAN in StarCraft 2 (http://starcraft-2-strategy.net) and forces you to use Battle.net. This makes it extremely hard to host tournaments, especially in places like China.
