View Full Version : How do I build a Ghost Academy?
Maybe I'm missing something here, but I'm new to Starcraft (Period,) and I have not the slightest idea on how I am supposed to obtain a Ghost Academy.

Go to advanced buildings and it should be first one.
Advanced buildings?
Please explain more (You wish I was kidding, as do I myself!)

Hm, the V-key is the hotkey for Advanced structures i believe, it should be in thar. Its got Mineral/Vespene Gas requirements, i think it costs 100/150 ? Ummm...build a barracks with the Lab add-on (costs 50/50 me thinks). and you should be making ghosts in no time, make sure to get supply depots for those nukes eh? :P

when you select and SCV and look at the bottom left of the options available there are two buttons. The leftmost one leads to the basic buildings, the command center, supply depot, the barracks, etc. The button immediately to the right of that one leads to the advanced buildings, that's where the Ghost Academy is located.

You also need Starport first to be able to build a Ghost Academy.

stop trolling.
on an SCV on the bottom left there are 2 buttons you can click. the on on the far left bottom corner are "regular building" while the one to the right of that are "advanced buildings" once you have the ghost academy you must build the ghost from the barrack that has the attachment (i forgot what the attachment is called). from the ghost academy you may also research cloaking, increased starting energy, and you have the ability to build nukes.

Thanks for all the solid replies fellas, I vaguely remembered that you didn't just press 'B' in SV when you wanted something built by 'building units,' and here it is!
Also, trying to memorize hotkeys on day 1 caused me to neglect the finer points in life (such as advanced building.)
Much appreciated.

I am afraid you upset the people in the other Starcraft forums good sir. I do hope you get it down though, and work your way up.

I played WoW yesterday instead of SC2 beta. My account was just sitting there doing nothing!
Take that you have-nots.
e: I also don't use hotkeys or control groups. I click everything.
e2: I got up to 60APM in one replay.

That's actually pretty impressive considering you're clicking everything. But sc2 is more of a macro game than a micro game, APM doesn't matter too much. I've beaten people averaging 40-50 for the game while they have like 80.
All you have to do to figure out how to build any building is mouse over it and it will say what it requires in order to be built.
In some cases the building required to build the building you want may require another building built first but if you just follow the chain, you will get it eventually.
Just remember to keep in mind there is both Basic AND Advanced buildings. Be sure to learn them all inside and out. =)

You shouldn't taunt people without a key...it's cruel, and Blizzard should take the keys away from people doing so.
DON'T BE MEAN

Hehe I love the people who "cheat" their APM by redundantly clicking 3-5 times for everything. It makes me giggle.
...almost as much as the qq'ing in that threat that was posted. Self-entitlement is so amusing to watch.

Take what I'm about to say and apply it to all further questions you may have:
The best way to learn the game is to PLAY IT.
How to build a Ghost Academy is right there in the game, if you'd only take the time to actually study the information present instead of running to us to hold your hand.
You must know SCVs build things if you've moved on to how to build a specific building. Therefore you know the SCV is the unit most likely to produce what you want. Therefore you STUDY the SCV's abilities. You've probably already found basic buildings, if you have looked closer you'd have found advanced buildings. Each building tooltip includes what's necessary to build that building, problem solved. And even if that didn't work, there's a button CLEARLY LABELED "Help (F12)" at the top of the screen that sends you straight to your tech tree so you can see, in colorful diagram, exactly how to reach the Academy.
There's no excuse for making a thread like this. Go study the game, and come back when you have an opinion to share or a bug to report.

If you weren't a moron you would at least TRY to find a solution to your problem first instead of running straight to the grownups to fix things for you.
*wave to everyone without a key that hated me on the old SC2GDF ;P*
Thanks for the help guys, I got into gold 2v2 bracket.. yay?
Sorry for the other forum making people rage.
I didn't expect to see builders have a separate tree to be building from with a different keystroke... not a crime.
Plus it was 4 in the morning last night, didn't help. I found it and was like... 'I'll be Damned.'

Meh, I don't care if you didn't notice it was there right away, that's not a problem. It just bugs me when people's first instinct is to hit the forums.

If you played WarCraft 3 AT ALL, you would know how to build a Ghost Academy with the Terran race I am afraid...

Warcraft had all their buildings in one pane, which is probably where you got lost. It was a sort of weird thing to me going from WC2 to SC1
