Any Zerg only players with over 300 games played still playing?

I think im burnt out. The entire Zerg tech feels redundant, and unsatisfying even on the FFA games.

Played zerg in SC1 and BW religiously, played them originally in Beta...found the mass roaches, then mass mutas = win playstyle rather silly. Went terran and have found it a great deal more fun, so much more flexability and usefulness in the variety of their units has been much more enjoyable over the mass unit A till you can get unit B then mass unit B until you win method of the zerg.

i've got over 400 zerg games and I still like them... except for ZvZ.

Although, in 400 games i've probably used my t3 units a dozen times. If I can survive till my macro is high enough to really start cranking out the muta I usually win. I've had to go brood lords to finish a terran a couple of times, but they are the only reason I ever bother going t3.

Yeah, while I random alot, I Zerg whenever I choose a race. I know what you mean by Roach, Muta, done. But it doesnt have to be that way. Ive actually stopped using Roaches against Terran and now hesitate to use them against Protoss as much as I did before. Early Phoenix means you better have early Hydra den and not dally around with Roaches or your screwed.

My biggest problem is ZvZ since you dont even have the option of not going Roach. Ling vs Roach is a more one sided fight than 10 Chuck Norris clones vs a tied and bound baby.

Its not so bad now that Infestor Fungal + Hydra superior range means you can kill Roaches or Muta without taking losses if you micro correctly, but T1 is nothing but Roach wall and Tech to T2.

I switched to terran after getting bored of the race 2 weeks ago.

Loving terran, it really feels like sc2.

To be honest. When I use zerg, I feel like there are only 3 units in there tech tree. Lings/Roach/Muts. It feels like every other race have much more units then they do.

im loving them. im getting better which is making more combinations of units fun. (meaning i got to use ultralsks in a game and they fared very well.) also playing against anyone worth anything know how to counter roaches and muta. now fully upgraded roaches hydra and ultas... thats a different story. (granted a lot more air on the other guys part would of helped him a ton)

Yeah Blizz is really trying to work on making other Zerg units more viable. I think they learned from SC1 (hydra/lurk or muta/ling) and aren't looking for a repeat in SC2 of the same old basic unit combos. E.G. They're working on infestors. The problem is that roaches and mutas are just way too effective. So Blizz has their work ahead of them if they want to increase unit diversity (which necessarily makes a race stronger because it gives them more options) while addressing unit balance.

Personally, I've been trying to work in a zergling/baneling/infestor build instead of roaches. It's hard to test in 2v2 though because I get the worse allies imaginable...

For the most part it has been quite effective since I am harassing them constantly from the beginning. A lot of players tech or expand too early making rushes and constant ling harassment very effective. In 1v1 I never even both expanding because the game is over before I run out of resources.

Maybe they are keeping the initial release basic enough to leave room for a future expansion.

heavy roach build will always lose to the marauder timing attack from what I've seen. They're definitely not a "always use this unit" race. In my first 80 games or so I always went with plenty of roaches and I've learned that this will work a lot of the time but will be completely useless in other situations. Zerg have to be able to take their opponent down early if they're going heavy on roaches or they'll lose to the air attack. Terrans and Protoss can get to air units earlier than Zerg if they do any kind of roach build from my experience.

Part of the problem is the simple unit count. The zerg unit count is about the same as the other 2 races (12 units each I believe), but for zerg, 3 of those units are the queen, the overlord, and the overseer. The queen is basically a macro mechanic, the olord is a supply depot, and the overseer is only slightly more interesting.

As a result, the zerg effectively has 9 offensively interesting units, where the other races have 12. On top of that, the discrepancy in cost effectiveness means that most successful zerg players use mutas, roaches, lings, or hydras. Only one of these units is even new.

I think the zerg need a lot of redesign, just for the sake of an interesting game.
