I for one love it. Coming up with funny combos is entertaining as hell. Best so far is wangs.ofliberty.

I feel most people didn't use it to it's full potential. I see a lot of "serious" names. Less serious, more fun.

My only complaint is a lot of people didn't know how it would work/look and thus didn't know where to go with it. I'm pretty happy with mine, however there is no solid way to change it. With some work, could be awesome.

Also, numbers please. :(

I'm happy with mine, but wish I hadn't capitalized the "G". Oh, well.

Seriously.... what kind of retard would name himself "Mikey.mikey" .... fffffffffffffffffffffffff

Actually, I havent been able to play the game more than about 5 minutes so far because the whole mikey.mikey thing has been bothering me so much, and ive been searching and searching for how to change it.

I do see some room for abuse... pay for zerg services etc - as they can have a DOT COM name....

My in game name is jackup.goodtwogo but on the forums is Capitalizes the J anyway. Could this be considered a bug?

Report it and find out? :)

ya i didn't know it was going to do this. i thought one would be like your account name that differentiated it between others and the other would be your normal user name that shows up for forums like this and stuff. i didn't know both would show up like that.

I agree with the poster above me.

When I created the name it was unclear that the "first.last" would be widely visible on forums, etc. The name instructions indicated that the "second name" would not be displayed outside of being able to differentiate between two players with the same name.

If I knew it was going to be displayed on the forums I would have put more thought into the naming :)

I don't even get this though, because the first name I tried to use was "already in use". So what is the point of the second name?

I like how it looks and displays, but when making mine I was not aware of what was actually happening. Admittedly due to my extreme excitement in wanting to play SC2 Beta. I want to change my name, so it's not actually my name but the regular username I use.

I feel it is rather redundant

Agreed.

I wish we could've had:

UniqueName.CommonName

Then we could've done things like... Name.ClanTags, etc.

I agree, Blizzard should've specified the purpose of the identifier rather than something vague like "to differentiate other usernames"! Now mine just looks stupid haha

Yea, the reasoning for the second name was vague...

Luckily, I have a friend who installed the game before me.
I do think we should be allowed to change our name, though, maybe as a monthly thing and it shows who we were in our profile?

I am a little surprised at see the all the real ID names as I was under the impression that this would have been soethign that you would have to reveal to another player not one that someone can just look and see.

I would rather that one or the other name be visible. Sort of like a public key and a private key for encyption. Sure anyone can see and use my public key to get a hold of me, but oly my friends have my private key that will see where I am and what I am up to.

The Real ID's aren't public, you can only see them if you know their e-mail and add them, o_O.

I like it, but only because I decided to read the forums before logging in and learned about it.
In its current form, I can see more confusion coming from it then anything else - though that's just my opinion.

I liked Sixen's idea, seems like maybe your user name stays static but you can change your "common name" to indicate swapped clans and whatnot.

I very much enjoy the system. As you can tell, I put a lot of time and effort into my name.

HATE IT! I thought my ID would only be visible by my friends.. and lo and behold, here it is, up for everyone to see! And what's up with no numbers? Man.. my nickname sucks.. I hope we will be able to change, at least the char name!

Right now the Ident system gives some pretty humorous combinations for sure.

I like Jackedup.goodtwogo, that was pretty creative. But in essence, it's only a means for Blizzard (and really the community) to track players for whatever reasons, i.e. Random.player is not the same as Random.person and people are allowed the freedom to obtain names that have already been taken while maintaining individuality. I like it, but I wish I had the creativity that some of you have had in coming up with a better name!

Tylos

Yeah, realized it after that it would name me Tylos.tylos...lol

Oh well. :)

Is the first, or second part of the name the 'Account' name?

If its the first, how do I make a new identity? I think its time to bust out a Bibdy.bobidiboo.

I was under the same impression. When I read it that seemed to be what it was describing, that the first would be the one seen everywhere and the second was basically more private and only for rare occurences.

Chiming in to say that the purpose of the second name was pretty vague. If I knew it could be used for some fun (or would be changable for a clan tag, etc) then I would have tried to be a little more creative with it.

Is that even the purpose? Or ..????

I didn't realize the ID would be added on to the end. I thought it was a "Secondary name" friends have.

I will be kinda sad if I'm stuck with this into release haha.

Coming up with one combo, you mean. You only get to do it once per copy of the game.

I am quite happy with the ability to pretty much have any name you want, I haven't seen anyone's identifier in game yet though.

Yeah it's meant for people you really know, you can have regular friends.. supposedly. but yes it shows people my real real first name that is on my Battle.net account. only people I would link up with my email would be people I know in real life or know really well online (I'm talking years and years and years).

Oh and as always. Authenticator :) I like that the # entry is on the same page as the password screen.

Its a good idea but the current problem for me is once i played a game with a person i thought was of the same skill as me and wanted to invite him to do 2v2's. So i checked the replay to see what his name was and invite him but the identifier doesnt show in the replays unfortunately. So there was no way of inviting him.
This is problematic and somewhat of a let down. You have to ask someone for their identifier if you wish to group up.

My clan name LoL, (Lords of Lobby) was filtered out as 'bad language'... so instead of Cloaked.lol, i just duplicated my nick. I hope 'lol' gets unblocked when they add a feature to change your ident.

I don't like the system much to be honest. Wouldn't be so bad if one was visible and one wasn't.

I ran into this same issue but I found a work around - go to your recently played games and go to the score screen i think, you can right click their name (even though it only shows the first part of the account name) and add them to friends.

Then you can also see their who account name (no read id stuff) in your friend's list.
